The Features
- Evolution: This is the theory that the world is steadily changing, and that organisms are transforming as time passes by. A theory that overtime species will change as they adapt to the world.
- Common Descent: This is the theory that every group of organisms descended from a common ancestor.
- Multiplication of species: Evolution is a branching process and that more species will be produced through time.
- Gradualism: Evolutionary change takes place through the gradual change of populations.
- Natural selection: Evolutionary change comes about through the abundant production of genetic variation in every generation. This is where individuals adapt to their environment to live long enough to pass down their traits.
- Adaption: The key to his theory was the word 'Adaption.' Meaning, 'those able to change and adapt to continuous changing conditions (geography, climate, temperature, etc) are the species that will survive and evolve further, as continuous change takes place around them. some adaptations can vary from behavior changes to DNA changes.
Variations within a species enable some individuals to survive and reproduce more often than others.
